From Startup to Exit: Serial Entrepreneur and Author Shirish Nadkarni (HBS MBA ’87)

Join us for a fireside chat with Shirish Nadkarni (HBS MBA ’87). Shirish is a serial entrepreneur who notably founded language learning site LiveMocha, scaled it to over 15 million users across 200 countries and exited to Rosetta Stone. He also founded TeamOn Systems, exited to Research In Motion (Blackberry). He is the author of several books, including 'From Startup to Exit' and 'Winner Takes All.' Shirish will share his two decades of insights on how to start, fund and scale a tech business, and share his views on attractive business models and opportunities in our ever-changing tech environment.

We are also pleased to invite our HBS partners/guests and friends from Harvard University, Stanford, UPenn/Wharton and Columbia.

About Shirish Nadakarni:
Shirish Nadkarni is a serial entrepreneur with a proven track record of creating multiple successful consumer businesses that have scaled to tens of millions of users worldwide. He co-founded Livemocha, the world's largest language learning site with 15+ million registered members from over 200 countries, which was acquired by RosettaStone in 2013. Before Livemocha, Shirish founded TeamOn Systems, a pioneering mobile wireless email company that was acquired by BlackBerry in 2002. The TeamOn technology formed the core foundation for Blackberry Internet E-mail, serving over 50 million BlackBerry users. Earlier in his career, Shirish started at Microsoft, where he engineered the acquisition of Hotmail and launched MSN.com, which became a leading web portal in the early days of the internet.

Shirish earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and a BSE in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan. He serves on the board of TiE Seattle, where he chairs several programs, including the GoVertical Startup Creation Workshop, the TiE Entrepreneur Institute, and the Z5 Catalyst funding initiative.
